30 September-1 October 2010:
Northwoods Children's Book Conference
Please join us on Thursday evening, September 30th, for the eighth annual Northwoods Children's Book Conference in beautiful Cable, Wisconsin. This year the conference will be held at Lakewoods Resort, just 8.4 miles east of Cable on County Road M. Anyone who has already been to this conference knows it's a warm and friendly atmosphere with spectacular scenery, good food, and delightful camaraderie between attendees and faculty. The opportunities for learning are good, too! There are three separate learning tracks for librarians (both public and school), educators (K through 12 and college), and writers.
The faculty this year include Anita Silvey as keynote speaker, talking about Everything I Need to Know I Learned from a Children's Book. In fact, we'll all have an opportunity at the end of the conference to share the children's book that has most influenced our own lives. Joining Anita on Thursday afternoon for the intensive Workshops are Candace Fleming and Eric Rohmann. Take a peek at the sessions to learn more about their topics.
On Friday, it's sessions all day as Muskadee L. Montano, Laura Purdie Salas, Marsha Qualey, Megan Schliesman, Lee Ann Landstrom, Karen I. Shragg, Steve Palmquist, Vicki Palmquist, and Merri Lindgren add their knowledge and book recommendations to the mix.
This conference is co-sponsored by Children's Literature Network, Northern Waters Library Services, Redbery Books, and the Telemark Education Foundation, Inc.
Register today! You won't want to miss one moment of this conference about which one of our attendees wrote last year, "Don't tell people about this conference, okay? It's the best one I've been to, including national conferences, and I don't want there to be a lot more people here." We trust you'll feel the same way and we'll see you every year, too. |
