Madam President Catherine Thimmesh
The Sky's the Limit Girls Think of Everything
Author Catherine Thimmesh celebrates her birthday on September 20th. She grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota and graduated from the University there with a degree in art history. Ms. Thimmesh (pronounced tim-esh) was the owner of an art gallery for a time. Her first book, Girls Think of Everything, was published in 2000 and received the IRA's prestigious award. A book about women and girl inventors, it tells of the inspiration leading to Toll House cookies and white-out and many other well-known resources. The Sky's the Limit followed shortly, this time about women discoverers. This book won the Minnesota Book Award. Just recently, Madam President was released, a terrific book about women politicians. Catherine is an adventurer herself, taking research trips to places such as Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama, and Circus School, where she learned to perform on the flying trapeze. Catherine and her husband live with their daughter and son in Minneapolis.
